ARCH1201 Project 3

Site Analysis/Owners personality

Site: King St Newtown
Dimensions: 12 by 30m

Before the site could have been picked the nature of the galleries owner had to be identified.
The owner that I had in mind for this project was a young, eager man that has nothing in his head except for his artwork. To him,, his art is his life and so the aim of his space was to show of this to the passing observers.
As a proud and not of the mainstream artist, he is very open, in ways of criticism and perspectives and welcomes all that are interested in his life. The young man has a passionate for the material metal, and often erects massive scultpures but also spends time making metalic ornaments and engravings of many sizes. In the proposed gallery, the works and my importantly the personality of the owner will be distinctly the design focus.

Now, the site of the proposed gallery, is also strategically picked in order to compliment the owners ideals. As an open man the site was to be a busy part of the street, and so one that was 2 min away from the train station was picked. Around the site were cafes and restaurants, a Franklins and Dendy cinema, which just hints at the sites busyness.

Directly behind the site was also a carpark which would make a useful rear door for transporting material and sculptures, or also mean a steady flow of people around the site too.
